A Large Presentation of Georgian Wine was Held in Japan
A large presentation of Georgian wine was held in the capital of Japan, Tokyo and in Osaka.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Japan Levan Tsintsadze and Georgian Winner of the Hatsu Bashu Tournament, Sumoist Levan Gorgodze, the same Tochinoshin visited the event in Tokyo. They were able to get acquainted with Georgian wines together with Japanese professionals. Tochinshin's visit was a great surprise for organizers and participants of the exhibition.
In the events held in Tokyo and Osaka, 35 Georgian wine producers were presented with 100 wines. Presentation of Georgian Wine was attended by 350 wine professionals in Tokyo and 300 in Osaka: there were distributors, importers, sommeliers, resorts, etc.
The tasting was led by the National Wine Agency contractor, master of wine Kenichi Ohashi. Kenichi Ohashi is the only master of wine in Japan and represents the Agency contractor marketing company Red Bridge, which has been working in Japan on marketing and advertising campaign of Georgian wine and winemaking since 2017.
The export of Georgian wine has great potential in Japan, as well as the entire East-Asian region, Japan is a growing export market for Georgian wine. With the support of the National Wine Agency, Georgian wine companies will be presented in Japan's large exhibition "Wine & Gourmet Show" and "FOODEX JAPAN", as well as specialized tasting in various Japanese cities.
In addition, the 20th awarding ceremony of the International competition "Japan Wine Challenge" and the Gala Dinner was held at the Hotel "Conrad Tokyo" in Tokyo, which was attended by the Princess of Japan, Her Highness Princess Takamado and congratulated the winners, among them were representatives of Georgian wine companies. In particular, one of the most important international competitions in Asia, the 20th Japan Wine Challenge 2017, won the following wines: "Chigogidze Wines" "Saperavi 2015" won a the highest award of the competition - Platinum Medal and regional "Trophy" "As the best red wine from Georgia. 2 gold medals won “Vaziani Company" line “Makashivli Marani” wines "Green 2016" and "Khikhvi 2016". "Khikhvi 2016" also earned a regional "Trophy" as the best white wine from Georgia. A charity auction was held during the Gala Dinner. The oficial sponsor of the evening was "Vaziani Winery".
