Georgian Wine at Dusseldorf ProWein
Annual international fair of wine and alcoholic beverages – ProWein 2017 was held in Dusseldorf, Germany, where 23 Georgian wine-maker companies participated with the support of National Wine Agency and association “Georgian Wine”.
Within the fair, two Georgian wine tastings were organized on the leading European wine-making magazine stand - Vinum, which was lead by the executive editor of the journal, Rudolf Knoll. 14 Georgian wines were represented at the tasting.
As Rudolf Knoll stated, the interest towards the tasting was so intense, that it was attended by twice more guests than intended.
“Within the fair, Georgian wine tasting was organized on the stand of Vinum for two days. The number of the guests exceeded all the expectations, that, in my opinion, is the result of the fact, that Georgia is already acknowledged worldwide, as the homeland of wine. Surely, much interest is towards Qvevri wine and Georgian varieties, I wish Georgian wine good luck and advances” - noted Rudolf Knoll.
Executive Director of the association “Georgian Wine”, Tina Kezeli remarked, that Georgia has participated in the since 2000, but Georgian wine has never had such representation.
“This fair is very important platform for Georgian wine-makers. This is the world\\\'s number one fair in the wine-making field. Totally, 23 Georgian companies are represented on the stand, we have never had so many companies represented at this fair. More companies have interest and accordingly, we hope, that next year, Georgian stand will be even more representative. Especially notable is the interest towards Qvevri wine” - stated Tina Kezeli.
The visitors of Prowein 2017 had great interest towards Georgian wine. There were wines of 23 companies: “Askaneli Brothers”, “Badagoni”, “Bagrationi 1882”, “Besini”, “Corporation Georgian Wine”, “Chateau Mukhrani”, “Dugladze Wines and Spirits”, “Friend\\\'s Cellar”, “Georgian Wine House”, “Georgian Hospitality Investment”, “Gevelli”, “Georgian Wine And Spirits Company”, “Kakhetian Traditional Wine-making”, “Kakhuri”, “Corporation Kindzmarauli”, “Qimerioni”, “Tbilvino”, “Telavi Wine Cellar”, “Teliani Valley”, “Vaziani Company”, “Shumi”, “Wine Man”, “Winery Khareba”.
Within the fair, “Besini” company wine, “Besini Premium” dry red 2013 was awarded with the Gold prize and award “Best of show Georgia” of the international wine competition, “Mundus Wines”.
Aslo, “Winery Khareba” wine - “Saperavi” classical dry red 2013 was awarded with Gold Award and “Khareba” dry red 2012 – Silver Award.
Large-scale and prestige fair - ProWein is the main event of the year for winemakers, as they have opportunity to get into new contacts and search importers, learn modern technology and services. In the framework of the fair, negotiations with importers and distribution companies of Europe, Canada, USA and Asian countries are organized.
ProWein fair is held since 1994. For the support of Georgian production popularity and publicity growth on world market, Georgia has participated in the fair since 2000. At first, only 5 Georgian companies participated in the fair. In accordance with the large scales and importance of ProWein fair, interest of Georgian companies has increased and this year, 23 companies represented Georgia on the fair.
