Great Success of Georgian Wines in Japan
In the capital of Japan, Tokyo, at the international wine fair - The 4rd “Sakura” Japan Women’s Wine Awards, 12 Georgian wines were awarded by one Double Gold, six Gold and five Silver Medals.
“Sakura” international awards is a large-scale event which was organized for the fourth time. An international wine competition is judged by Japanese female wine specialists, sommeliers, wine writers and journalists.
The success in such kind of competitions will promote further progress of popularization, publicity and placement of Georgian Wines not only in Japan, but generally on Asian market.
Totally, 4212 wines 37 countries participated in the competition, degustations were organized January 28 to February 1.

The Diamond Trophy, the most honorable award, will be ed the Double Gold wine winners and the result will be announced at Japan’s FOODEX 2017 in March.
In 2016, 160 thousand bottles of wine have been exported Georgia to Japan, that is 15% higher, than the similar data of 2015.
