Wine Export Growth Was Fixed in The Beginning of The Year
According to the LEPL National Wine Agency of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, in January 2018, 5,12 mil. bottles (0,75l) of wine have been exported to 24 countries worldwide, that is 18% higher than the similar data of the last year. Totally, 11,4 mil. USD worth of wine have been exported, that is 31% higher than the data of the previous year.
Export growth is remarkable in the following countries: Japan 95% (26892), Kazakhstan - 108% (220776), Hong-Kong - 100% (15486), Latvia - 90% (116226), Ukraine – 55%(624030), Russia- - 24% (3534780), Poland - 13% (177018), Israel - 12% (19680), Czech - 445% (6654), Netherlands - 39% (2248) and etc.
The first five of the exporter countries is the following: Russia – (3534780),, Ukraine - (624030), China -(250238), Kazakhstan – (220776) and Poland – (177018).
At the beginning of the year, 70 companies have exported various amount of wine.
In addition, 1,06 mil bottles (0,5 liters) of brandy and 8,2 thousand bottles of «Chacha» have been exported in January.
"In terms of growth of wine exports, the year has started positively. In general, January is considered a passive month, so, it is much earlier to speak about the tendency according to this short-term data. On the diversification and export growth of the markets, the more accurate picture will be revealed after the first quarter data is received "- stated the Chairman of the National Wine Agency Giorgi Samanishvili.
