Wine sector management restructuration
Representatives of Ministry of Agriculture, National Wine Agency, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of United Nations Organization (UNO) and wine producer companies discussed the issues of wine sector management restructuration at the meeting held in hotel “Museum”. The meeting was held within the framework of European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD) of UNO. Expert of wine industry and international wine low FAO, John Barker introduced the wine sector management model , which was created considering the international experience and wine sector reality and challenges in Georgia.
“Despite the healthy communication and collaboration between the state and the wine sector, it is important to make the relationship institutionally balanced for long-term perspective. I want to thank all the participants for active involvement in the process of creating wine sector management model, also, I thank FAO for their support. Our aim is to achieve such management model, which will oversee state and private sector interests equally and private sector involvement will be more actual in every direction”,-stated the minister of Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili.
As the head of National Wine Agency, Giorgi Samanishvili stated, public and private sector cooperation and creating the best model of management, as the stability of this institution should be the guarantee for development of wine industry and popularization on national and international markets.
Within the framework of the meeting the participants discussed the document. Remarks and attitudes were expressed, which will be considered during the preparation of the final document.
