American Wine Professionals Are Exploring Georgian Wine
A group of American wine sommeliers and importers is visiting Georgia for five days, during which they will visit 18 companies and taste Georgian wines, explore the history and culture of Georgian wine and cuisine.
The 7-man group of wine professionals (Lisa Granik, Aimee Suzanne Lasseigne New, Andrea Edith Morries, David Vincent Foss, Edward Antony Morello, Lily Echo Peachin, Jefrrey W Harding) is lead by Lisa Granik, the famous master of wine and head of the National Wine Agency contractor American company, "TastingWorks".
During the tour organized by the National Wine Agency, American professionals will have the opportunity to taste wines of the following companies: "Alapiani's Marani", "Batono", "Giuaani", "Orgo/Teleda", "Mosmieri", "Satsnakheli", "Shalauri", "Maranuli", "Papari Valley", "Our Wine", "Winery Nika", "Kakha Berishvili's Winery", "Danieli Winery", "Naotrebi Wines", "Iago's Wine", "Chateau Mukhrani", "Lagvinari" and "Gotsa Wines".
Within the recent years, Lisa Granik has organized visits of wine professionals in Georgia and tens of Georgian Wine tastings and presentations in the cities of the USA. According to Lisa Granik, quality of Georgian wine is increasingly getting better. She also noted, that these tours promote Georgian wine awareness growth in the USA. Introduction of the Georgian traditional method of wine-making and unique vine varieties to the professionals will result in promotion of Georgian wine export growth and development of wine tourism in Georgia.
The USA is one of the potentially progressive and important export markets for Georgian wine.
National Wine Agency promotes the increase of Georgian wine awareness and competitiveness on the US market by organizing participations of Georgian wine companies in international exhibitions and tastings and inviting wine professionals in Georgia. It has already resulted in the stabile tendency of export growth - according to 7 month data of the current year, 236 thousand bottles (0,75l) of wine have been exported to the USA, the growth compared to the previous year amounted 89%.
