Georgian wine culture and history is taught in wine academy school in Poland. On the concern, collaboration memorandum was registered between National Wine Agency of Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia and viticulture and wine-making development fund of Poland (Galicja Vitis) in Tbilisi.

The memorandum provides for promotion of Georgian wine popularity in Poland  with various marketing and educational activities. Viticulture and winemaking development fund of Poland collaborates with wine academy of Poland (Podkarpacka Akademia Wina, http://akademiawina.org/ )on the bases of which wine school was developed in 2015 in Jaslo, lectures will be read about Georgian wine culture.

The head of National Wine Agency, Giorgi Samanishvili hopes, that this memorandum will help further popularization and increase of exports of Georgian wine  in Poland.

“Poland is one of our important markets and generally, Georgian wine has a great potential in Poland. In addition, wine tourism is progressing every year Poland. We expect  Georgian wine to have increasingly more apprisers in the future. Today, we\'ve signed the memorandum, according to which in one of the academies, lectures will be read on Georgian wine. For our part, we will provide them with information and advertisement materials and we will be included at most to represent more fine Georgian wines in Poland”, mentioned Giorgi Samanishvili.

Organization  Galicja Vitis is a developer of one of the biggest international wine contests in Poland, Wine Contest GALICJA VITIS (http://galicjavitis.pl/en/). As a representative of the fund mentioned above, Polish wine writer and oenologist Wojciech Bosak stated, Georgian wine is very popular in Poland and there is a wide range of Georgian wines available  in Polish shops, restaurants and wine houses.

“Georgia is becoming more and more  popular destination for Polish tourists, wine tourists, for people who are interested in visiting vine-yards, wineries, meeting with wine producers and of course  tasting  wines. The goal of our small foundation for development and promotion of viticulture is to educate people about wine, inform  wine producers and  also consumers or lovers of wine. We hope, that our collaboration with National Wine Agency will help us to promote Georgian wine with great culture and history wider. We will introduce Georgian wine to the students of our professional wine school-academy”, noted Bosak.

He also said, that there is a great interest towards Georgian wine and some of the wine-makers started to produce wine according to Kakhetian technology. “Of coarse the result is not such spectacular as original Kakhetian wines, but it  is the first step. As for the rules of our competition,  last year we introduced the special category for white wines macerated long time on the skins, especially for potential Georgian competitors, who wanted to participate in our wine contest. It gives traditional Georgian wines and similar kinds other countries the chance to be appreciated in proper way among the regular standard wines”, mentioned Bosak.

Poland is one of the important export markets for Georgian wine. Poland is in the five of Georgian wine exporter countries – according to the data of 6 months of 2016, over 1,6 mil bottles of wine have been exported Georgia to Poland, that is 47% higher, than the similar data of the last year.
