The Prime-minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili thanked the Minister of Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili and corresponding services of the Ministry for carrying out vintage successfully at the government session.

After the government session, the Minister of Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili organized press-conference and gave exhaustive information to the public about vintage 2016.

“Vintage has actually ended in Georgia. It\'s important to underscore, that vintage 2016 was organized so that no viticulturists had any problems with registering grapes. There was no excess, delay or problem during the vintage. Accordingly, we can estimate vintage 2016 as successful” – mentioned Levan Davitashvili.

As the Minister of Agriculture stated, as a result of viticulture and wine-making support in the recent years, request on unique Georgian varieties has grown, that is very important for increase of Georgian wine diversity and competitiveness on international market.

“It is important, that we finance marketing activities actively and as a result, wine export keeps progressive tendency, markets have been diversified, that gives the way to upgrowth of viticulture and wine-making filed”,-noted Levan Davitashvili and underscored, that in the recent years special attention is payed to  the activities of protecting cultural accuracy of “Khvanchkara” grape races – Mujuretuli and Aleksandrouli.

At the press-conference, the Minister of Agriculture mentioned, that harvesting of different agricultural cultures is processing successfully and in organized way.

“In the recent years, in the point of lodging the harvest,  the elements of chain for  values resolving the harvest lodging problem once for all are being reinforced. It\'s about important upgrowth of  industrial powers and additional encouragement mechanisms carried out in the last four years by the state. For the next step, we will have very important projects -  encouragement of land consolidation, viticulturist consolidation and cooperation, that will move the entire field to the new quality level,” - stated Davitashvili.

This year, over 114 thousand tones of grapes have been processed in Kakheti and Racha regions. By 19 thousand viticulturists registered grapes in wine companies and the income amounted 100 million Gel. 

For grapes realization support purpose,according to the decision of  the government of Georgia, on the grapes delivered in the wine companies registered in vintage coordination staff, physical persons  received the following subsidy: Kakheti region – 1kg, Rqatsiteli and Kakhetian Mtsvane – 0,45Gel;1kg Saferavi – 0,20Gel; Racha-Lechkhumi and Qvemo Svaneti region – 1kg Mujuretuli/Aleqsandrouli – 2Gel.

Viticulturists in Kakheti and Racha region have received 22,5 mil Gel of subsidy.
