Exhibition "Georgia - The Cradle of Wine" Was Closed with a Solemn Concert in Bordeaux

In the world center of wine civilization - "Cité des Civilisations Du Vin"  Bordeaux, France, the exhibition “Georgia – The Cradle of Wine” closed with a festive concert of Georgian folklore ensemble "Basiani". The premiere of the documentary film "Georgia – The Cradle of Wine" was also held during the  project. The evening was led by the Spanish musicologist Polo Vallekho, who spoke about Georgian polyphonic music and wine culture. At the end of the concert, Georgian wine tasting was held for the  guests.

The ceremony was attended by the ambassador of Georgia in France  Ekaterine Siradze-Delone, members of the Parliament of Georgia and representatives of the National Wine Agency.

According to the Ambassador, the exhibition gave tens of thousands of visitors the opportunity to taste Georgian wines and get acquainted with the presented exhibits confirming that Georgia is the oldest winemaker.

“We can freely say that this exhibition was held. The world center of wine civilization is preparing for a new exhibition and the next invited guest. According to the director of the center, it will be  difficult to present the exhibition of this level for the next invited country, who will be able to present such high quality and interesting exhibitions as it was in the case of Georgia. Everybody is excited by the exhibition, " stated Ekaterine Siradze-Delone.

Exhibition “Georgia – The Cradle of Wine” was opened on July 31 this year. On September 14, Georgian   Qvevri was placed at the entrance of the center  for the permanent exposition, indicating the fact that in 2013 Georgian traditional method of Qvevri wine-making won a place on a list of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)  "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity".

Georgia was the first invited country, which opened a cycle of viticulture and winemaking exhibitions .  Various events, tastings, scientific conferences, professional meetings were held during the exhibition.
Unique archeological and ethnographic patterns from Georgian  National Museum were represented during the exhibition, proving that Georgia is undoubtedly the oldest wine civilization country.
Bordeaux is considered as the leading cultural and tourism center of Europe and the capital of world wine, which hosts more than 6 million tourists each year. Cité des Civilisations Du Vin is situated on 14 thousand sq. M. and introduces wine civilization history and modernity to the visitors via  ultramodern technologies.
