Wine Festival “Telavino” Was Held in Kakheti
During “Georgian Wine Week”, wine festival “Telavino 2017” was held in Telavi, where about 100 various types, colors and ages of wines, “Chacha” and other alcohol beverages produced by big and small cellars were represented.
The festival was established in 2014 by “Kakheti Wine Guild” and traditionally is held by the end of vintage. The objective of the festival is to develop wine tourism, introduce wine culture, Georgian traditions and historical values to foreign guests, as well as Georgian society.
Giorgi Khanishvili, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Giorgi Samanishvili, Chairman of National Wine Agency welcomed the guests with the local authorities.
Deputy Minister congratulated Kakheti region population with a successful vintage 2017.
“This year vintage is carried out successfully. At the moment, income of Kakheti viticulturists has reached 125 million Lari. The success of the Georgian nation in the field of viticulture and wine culture, will also be transferred to other cultures. The Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia carries out a lot of projects in different directions. This success has already begun in the field of winemaking, the next year will be the year of success of other cultures "- said Giorgi Khanishvili.
Giorgi Samanishvili thanked "Kakheti Wine Guild" for establishing and organizing the festival.
"Viticulturists, entrepreneurs and wine appraisers are celebrating the wine festival together. Here are many companies and interested people, local residents, as well as guests from other cities and foreign tourists. In other viticulture regions of Georgia many leaders of city municipalities expressed their desire to conduct similar festivals, which will further promote wine tourism, "said Giorgi Samanishvili.
The festival "Telavino" was held with the support of the National Wine Agency, as in the previous years. Georgian Wine Day was first celebrated in 2014. Taking into consideration the interest of the local population and tourists, in 2016 it was decided that the "Georgian Wine Day" would become the week.
