Wine Festival Was Held in Gurjaani

The first wine festival in Gurjaani was held during “Georgian Wine Week”, where wines produced by family cellars, as well as  over 50 major and small cellars were represented.
Kakheti regional governor Irakli Kadagishvili opened the festival. According to him, the goal of Gurjaani Wine Festival is to promote wine tourism development, introduction of wine culture and Georgian traditions  for foreign and Georgian society.
Head of the National Wine Agency greeted the guests of the event and congratulated on establishing of Gurjaani Wine Festival.
“ It is very nice, that Gurjaani has joined the Wine Week. This is  the fourth year we have been holding Georgian Wine Week in Georgia. Initially, we celebrated  Georgian Wine Day, which later was transformed into  Week, as the population, viticulturists, wine apprisers are united by the wish to celebrate the beautiful period of the vintage ending together”-stated Giorgi Samanishvili.
Gurjaani Wine Festival presented the pavilions of the history of Georgian wine culture, the autumn offering,  Tatara and Churchkhela was cooked, the wines were drawn in the fun quiz, Qvevri was opened. Local folk choir participated in the festival.
The festival was attended by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Revaz Asatiani, Head of Tourism Administration Giorgi Chogovadze and representatives of local government. The event was supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and National Wine Agency and under the patronage of Gurjaani majoritarian MP Davit Songhulashvili.
During the “Wine Week”, wine festival "Telavino" will be held in Telavi today. Due to the great interest of Georgian popularization and tourists towards the event, in 2016 the decision of  transformation  Georgian Wine Day into Georgian Wine Week was made.
