Famous and new small cellars from various parts of Georgia participated in the event.
The visitors were able to talk with winemakers, become fully informed about the wine cellars and buy wines. The festival was hosted by Malhkaz Kharbedia, a wine writer and founder of the Wine Club.
The head of the National Wine Agency, Giorgi Samanishvili welcomed the participants of the festival.
“Fortunately, there is a positive tendency of small and middle-sized wine cellars development. There are officially 700 wine producers in Georgia and thousands of unregistered family cellars. Hopefully, this will gradually reflect on official data and we will have thousands of cellars not only in Kakheti but throughout Georgia, which will give the festival much more importance and allow the representatives of small cellars to get acquainted and share their knowledge and experience with each other ",- noted Giorgi Samanishvili.
Georgian Wine Day was first celebrated in 2014. Due to the interest of native population and tourists towards the event, in 2016 decision was made to transform the “Georgian Wine Day” into “Georgian Wine Week”. Georgian Wine Week was opened in Marneuli on September 29, 2017 and will be closed with "The 4th Georgian National Wine Competition” on October 8, in Tbilisi.
