Qvevri – Georgian clay vessel for storing wine is installed at the entrance of the World Wine Civilization Center

Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili attended the ceremony. He also opened the exhibition “Georgia – Cradle of Wine” at the World Wine Civilization Center.
Georgia is the first guest country that opened the cycle of exhibitions dedicated to winemaking. The country is an honorable host of the Museum of Wine Civilization as well.
It has been scientifically proven that winemaking started in Georgia around 8 000 years ago; there is an uninterrupted tradition of winemaking and the oldest unearthed Qvevri-type vessel dates back to VI-V centuries B.C. After 3 years of research, leading specialists from 7 different countries confirmed that Georgia is the homeland of wine.
