A Group of wine importers and journalists from China has visited Georgia.
A group of wine importers and journalists from China is visiting Georgia for a week, during which, the guests will see wine cellars and companies in Kartli, Kakheti, Imereti, Guria and Samegrelo. Wine professionals will taste Georgian wines, explore Georgian traditional method of wine-making and vintage process.
The group of 13 members is lead by the head of National Wine Agency contractor company, Debra Meiburg. On the first day of their visit wine importers met the representatives of wine companies in Tbilisi. The companies had the opportunity to make presentations of their production for importers.
According to Debra Meiburg, the group consists of wine importers and journalists from Hong-Kong and other cities of China.
"I'm here again in one of my favourite countries, because I'd really like to introduce these wines to the markets in Asia. But most importantly I want to better understand the culture behind the wines, understand the food, the people, the personality, the hospitality and history that makes these wines so special.
It's wonderful to be in Georgia during the harvest, it's such an exating moment, we can taste grapes from first hand, and really better understand the fruit strait from the vine to really better understand the skins and the flevours and everything that goes into making these wines so special" - Stated Debra Meiburg.
According to the Head of National Wine Agency, Giorgi Samanishvili, it is very important for marketing strategy to bring as many wine professionals and interested people in Georgia as possible to introduce them ancient Georgian wine culture.
"It is important to bring as many wine professionals in Georgia as possible. This group also consists of such professional wine importers and journalists. The articles written by them will be important for the growth of Georgian wine awareness on the market",-stated Giorgi Samanishvili.
He hopes,that more business relations will be formed between the importers in Asia that work in the trade and Georgian wine companies. During their tour, the group will visit the following wine companies: "Chateau Mukhrani", "Badagoni", "Vaziani Company", GWS, "Shalauri Wine Cellar", "Kakhuri", "Tchotiashvili Wine Cellar", "Telavi Wine Cellar", "Papari Valley", "Chubini", "Winery Khareba", "Kakhetian Wine Cellar", "Amiran Vephkvadze's Wine Cellar", , "Archil Guniava Wine Cellar", "Vartsikhe Marani", "Ramaz Nikoladze Wines", "Basia's Wine", "Oda/Family Winery".
China remains the strategic export market for Georgian Wine. According to 8 month data 2017, over 5m bottles have been exported, that is 51% higher, than the similar data of the previous year. China is the second in the five of Georgian wine exporter countries.
