Meeting with entrepreneurs
From February 1 of the current year, electronic certification system will be activated in the National Wine Agency - the entrepreneur will fill the application for the certificate on the National Wine Agency web-site, without going to the Agency. Giorgi Samanishvili, the Chairman of the National Wine Agency announced this information to the representatives of wine companies.
At the meeting at the "Biltmore" hotel along with the above mentioned innovation, the draft amendments to the "Grape Origin Alcoholic Drink and Grape Origin Spirit Certification Rules" were discussed, which aims to improve product quality control.
"With the implementation of the electronic system, certification procedures will be simplified, the entrepreneur will not have to come to the agency. He can fill the declaration through the Internet, apply and come to the Agency to obtain a ready certificate. As for the changes in the certification procedure, the companies were actively involved in this process to improve the quality control system. The government and the private sector agree that poor-quality wine should not be exported from Georgia "- stated Giorgi Samanishvili.
Wine companies have already been trained in a new, electronic certification system. In case of troubleshooting, the agency is ready to provide additional consultations.
At the meeting with winemakers, the issues related to the amendments to the Law on Vine and Wine were also discussed. In particular, from January 1 of the current year, tasting of all categories of export wines will be mandatory. Until now, it was only about the appellation wines. According to Giorgi Samanishvili, the initiative of the amendment was based on the private sector interest and the process is going on fluently.
