A record number of Georgian wine was exported in 2017
In 2017, Georgia has exported a record number of wine over the last 30 years, which is a result of coordinated and effective collaboration of wine industry and governmental structures regulating winemaking and viticulture sector.
Accordng to LEPL National Wine Agency, 76,7 mil. bottles (0,75l) of wine have been exported to 53 countries worldwide, that is 54% higher than the similar data of the last year. Totally, 170 mil. USD worth of wine have been exported, that is 49% higher than the data of the previous year.
Export growth is remarkable in the following countries: China -43% (7 585 407 bottles), Russia- 76% (47 778 920), Ukraine - 46%(8 502 554), Poland - 15% (2 676 440), Latvia - 20% (1 505 138), Belarus - 56% (1 827 130), USA - 56% (457 920), Germany - 38% (404 538), Israel - 150% (213 074), Mongolia - 82% (168 162), France - 178% (99 796), Azerbaijan - 75% (141 294) and etc.
The first five of the exporter countries is the following: Russia – (47 778 920), Ukraine - (8 502 554), China - (7 585 407), Kazakhstan – (3 322 867) and Poland – (2 676 440).
Appellation wine leaders are the following: "Kindzmarauli" - 12,8 mil bottles, followed by "Mukuzani" – 4,2 mil, "Tsinandali" - 3,4 mil, "Akhasheni" – 1,5 mil, "Khvanchkara" - 887,5 thousand, "Tvishi" - 308,8 thousand and etc.
In 2017, about 250 companies exported various quantity of wines.
In addition, 18,4 mil bottles (0,5 liters) of brandy have been exported to 26 countries worldwide, that is 78% higher than the similar data of the last year. Totally, 39,4 million USD worth of brand have been exported, the growth compared to the similar data of the last year is 70%.
288 thousand bottles (0.5 l) of “Chacha” have been exported to 23 countries worldwide, growth amounted 180 %. Income of “Chacha” export amounted 846,3 USD, the growth compared to the last year is 148%.
Totally, wine, bandy, “Chacha”, wine material and brandy alcohol income amounted 283,8 mil. USD – growth in comparison with the similar data of the previous year amounted 46%.
