As of October 8, 206,540 tons of grapes have been processed in Kakheti
99.2% of the processed grapes—204,885 tons—are of high or medium quality.
Only 0.8% of the delivered grapes—1,655 tons—are of low quality or unripe.
Up to 14,300 winegrowers in Kakheti have delivered their grape harvest.
Of the processed grapes, 100,000 tons are Saperavi and up to 92,800 tons are Rkatsiteli, with the remainder consisting of various other grape varieties.
The state-owned enterprise "Harvest Management Company" LLC is accepting grapes from winegrowers at 22 locations across various municipalities in Kakheti.
The grape harvest in Kakheti is currently at its peak.
The projected harvest volume is around 320,000 tons.
To ensure the harvest is conducted in an organized manner and the crop is fully sold, the Government of Georgia has decided that, in the event of a surplus harvest, arrangements will be made to accept the crop from all winegrowers. To this end, "Harvest Management Company" LLC is purchasing grapes harvested in Kakheti from individuals in accordance with established terms:
For Saperavi grapes, the price is 1.50 GEL per kg for a sugar content of at least 20%; 1.00 GEL for 16%–20%; and 0.50 GEL for less than 16%.
For Rkatsiteli and other wine grape varieties, the price is 1.30 GEL per kg for a sugar content of at least 19%; 0.90 GEL for 16%–19%; and 0.50 GEL for less than 16%.
The grape procurement process is coordinated by the Vintage Coordination Headquarters located in the city of Gurjaani. Information regarding the vintage can be obtained by calling the hotlines at 1501 or 032 2 19 37 18.
