Representatives of the American Media Visit Georgia to Promote Georgian Wine
21.09.2026

Representatives of the American media specialising in wine visited Georgia as part of a tour organised by the National Wine Agency and its contracted US marketing company, Glodow Nead Communications.
During the visit, the guests toured 11 Georgian wine cellars and wineries in Kartli and Kakheti. They tasted Georgian wines produced using both classical and traditional methods and learned about the centuries-old history, culture and traditions of Georgian wine.
The American delegation included Alex Fondren, Vice President of Glodow Nead Communications; Karen MacNeil, editor of the WineSpeed digital newsletter and author of The Wine Bible; Sherlyn Peters, a contributor to Apple News; Stacey Buchanan, founder and publisher of Blood of Gods magazine; and Pete Holland, a sommelier and wine writer.
“This visit is highly important for raising awareness of Georgian wine in the United States. It is particularly valuable for journalists to experience Georgia first-hand, taste Georgian wine and cuisine, meet winemakers, and gain a deeper understanding of the country’s culture and traditions. I believe they have already fallen in love with Georgia, its hospitality and Georgian wine. I am confident that they will share their impressions of Georgia with their readers and audiences in the United States, inspiring them to visit the country themselves and discover the uniqueness of Georgian wine and culture,” Alex Fondren noted.
Visits by American wine professionals and media representatives help disseminate information about Georgian wine and increase its visibility. The United States is one of the key export markets for Georgian wine and is characterised by intense competition and stringent quality requirements.
With the support of the National Wine Agency, numerous marketing activities promoting Georgian wine have been implemented in the US market in recent years, helping to raise its profile and strengthen interest among American consumers.
