A Tasting of “Georgia’s Best Non-Qvevri Wines” was held in Germany
German city of Neustadt hosted the tasting of Georgian wines “Georgia’s Best Non-Qvevri Wines”.
Within the framework of cooperation with the prestigious German media holding Meininger, a blind tasting of Georgian wines was held at the event, with the participation of wine industry professionals, representatives of the commercial sector, sommeliers and journalists.
The aim of the tasting was to select the best Georgian non-Qvevri wines. The results, ranked by score, will be published in September in special articles in the magazines “Weinwirtschaft” and “SOMMELIERS”.
“WEINWIRTSCHAFT” is Meininger’s influential B2B (business-to-business) magazine. It is intended for wine merchants, sommeliers and industry professionals. Each year, the magazine identifies the best wine shops and supermarket sections.
“SOMMELIER” is another highly professional and prestigious Meininger magazine, created specifically for sommeliers at high-end restaurants, restaurateurs and enthusiasts of premium beverages. “SOMMELIER” focuses on high-quality wine culture and gastronomic trends.
This marketing activity provides an additional opportunity to promote Georgian wine and enhance its image in the German market.
Germany is Europe’s largest wine-importing and wine-consuming country. As a result of activities supported by the National Wine Agency and consistent cooperation with Georgian wine producers, a growing trend in Georgian wine exports has been established. From January to June of the current year, up to 784,000 litres of wine were exported from Georgia to Germany, which is 22% more than in the same period last year.
