Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency, attends the Spring Session of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV)
The OIV Spring Session is being held in Dijon, France, and will discuss issues such as the sustainable development of viticulture, climate change, vine disease management, new viticulture technologies, quality control, international regulations, and competitiveness in the global wine market.
The Chairman of the National Wine Agency also participates in the working meetings of the Economic and Legislative Commission and the Scientific and Executive Committees.
The issue of holding the OIV Congress in Georgia in 2027 will also be discussed during the spring session.
Georgia officially submitted its application in 2025 to host the OIV Congress in 2027.
It is worth noting that Georgia has hosted international OIV events twice - in 1962, the 33rd International Congress and in 2010, the 8th OIV General Assembly.
The International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) is an international intergovernmental organization with 51 member countries, including Georgia. The organization's activities include formulating recommendations on wine production and wine-making practices in member countries, viticulture, grape processing for the food industry, and assisting other international intergovernmental organizations in the creation and maintenance of international standards in the wine sector.
