In the first quarter of the current year, the Standing Tasting Committee of the National Wine Agency conducted 64 organoleptic evaluations of alcoholic beverages. A total of 3,106 samples were submitted for assessment, of which 119 failed to meet the required standards, while 2,987 received positive evaluations.

All wines bearing a designation of origin intended for export and sale on the domestic market are subject to mandatory tasting.

Organoleptic evaluation of alcoholic beverage samples is carried out based on color and clarity, typicality, the presence of defects or diseases, aroma, taste, and overall harmony. The assessment is conducted using a five-point scale, with a score of 1.5 or higher considered a positive result.

The relevant departments of the National Wine Agency continuously monitor product quality to ensure that tens of millions of liters of Georgian wine comply with international standards, remain competitive, and experience growing demand in global markets.
