Georgian Wine Presentation Held in Sendai, Japan
With financial support from the National Wine Agency and organized by the agency’s contractor, the marketing company Red Bridge, a Georgian wine tasting seminar was held in Sendai, the administrative center of Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.
Georgian wine tasting seminars, the so-called “Road Show” in the Japanese cities of Sapporo, Sendai and Tokyo, will be held from April 7 to 13.
The presentation of Georgian wine in Sendai was led by Kenichi Ohashi, Head of Red Bridge and Master of Wine, who delivered a presentation on Georgian wine. The presentation included information about the centuries-old history of Georgian winemaking, traditions, main grape varieties, and the development of the modern Georgian wine industry.
Japan represents one of the strategic export markets for Georgian wine. In 2025, up to 200 thousand liters of Georgian wine were exported to this market, representing a 42% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The Japanese market is distinguished by its strong demand for high-quality products and growing interest in authentic and distinctive flavors. Accordingly, these activities contribute to both export growth and the refinement of production standards and marketing strategies, which, in the long term, strengthens the competitiveness of Georgian wine in the international market.
