"In 2025, we have not lacked any effort in working on quality control, which will become even more active this year. Violations mainly occur when the samples submitted for certification by a particular company do not correspond to the lot prepared for export or sale on the local market. In the conditions of fierce competition on international markets, one of the most important is the quality of Georgian wine. The state, for its part, spares no effort to increase the awareness of Georgian wine. An entrepreneur should start taking care of the quality of wine from the vineyard; accordingly, the quality of the grapes grown is critically important," noted Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency.

In order to increase the competitiveness of alcoholic beverages produced in Georgia, the relevant departments of the LEPL National Wine Agency regularly carry out quality control of Georgian wine and other alcoholic beverages.

In 2025, within the framework of state control, which involves determining the compliance of the wine technological process in enterprises with the requirements set forth in Georgian legislation, out of 703 samples from 139 companies inspected, violations were found in 14 samples from 9 companies.

Inspection control was carried out in 62 companies; out of 1289 samples taken, violations were found in 19 samples from 7 companies. Out of 529 samples taken from 80 companies inspected by the Agency's contractor companies, Bureau Veritas Georgia LLC and SJS Georgia LLC, violations were found in 3 samples from 3 companies. The inspection process involves determining the conformity of the sample of alcoholic beverages submitted for certification with the lot.

In addition, 279 tastings were conducted for the purpose of organoleptic testing of exported alcoholic beverages, with a total of 13,349 samples submitted for tasting. Of these, 520 samples failed the tasting, while the remaining 12,829 samples were assessed positively.

Domestic market control was carried out on the products of 13 companies; sample testing is underway.

In 2025, the number of violations decreased compared to the previous year.

In 2026, quality control will continue so that tens of millions of liters of Georgian wine meet international standards and demand for it will increase even more, and control of the domestic market will be more active.
