"Georgia - a small country with a great treasure" - Georgian wine was presented in Shanghai
26 Georgian wine producing companies participated in ProWine Shanghai, one of the most prestigious exhibitions in the wine sector, in Shanghai, People's Republic of China, with the support and organization of the National Wine Agency.
Within the framework of the exhibition, a Georgian wine master class-tasting was also held, organized by the National Wine Agency, entitled "Georgia - Small Country with Big Treasures", led by wine master Fongyee Walker. Wines from nine Georgian companies were presented at the tasting.
"In terms of diversification of Georgian wine markets, the Chinese market is one of the most important. The National Wine Agency has been actively implementing various marketing campaigns in the People's Republic of China in recent years as part of the Georgian wine promotion program. In general, we work closely with the ProWine exhibition cycle. ProWine Shanghai traditionally attracts more than 100,000 visitors in total, including distributors, importers and wine professionals. Participation in an exhibition of this scale and importance contributes to the growth of Georgian wine exports to China," said Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency, who attended these events.
The international format "ProWine" exhibitions are the main event of the year for wine producers who are making new contacts, including importers, and learn about modern technologies and services. The main "ProWine" exhibition is hosted by Dusseldorf; during the year, exhibitions are held in Tokyo, Shanghai, Mumbai, Singapore, Hong Kong and Sao Paulo. With the support of the National Wine Agency, Georgian wine was presented at the "ProWein" exhibitions in Germany, Brazil, Japan and China.
It is noteworthy that China is one of the prominent strategic markets for Georgian wine, where a marketing campaign has been actively underway since 2013 to increase the awareness and export of Georgian wine. China has firmly established itself in the top five exporting countries of Georgian wine. In January-October of the current year, 2.45 million liters of Georgian wine were exported from Georgia to China, which is 15% more than the figure for the same period last year.
With the support of the National Wine Agency, Georgian wine was presented at the following exhibitions in the People's Republic of China this year: "Fine Wine Hotel Exhibition", "The China Food & Drinks Fair", "RAW Wine Shanghai", "Shanghai International Wine Challenge" (SIWC) and "Interwine China 2025".
In order to increase the export potential of Georgian wine and diversify markets, with the financial and organizational support of the National Wine Agency, in 10 months of 2025, Georgian wine was presented at 29 exhibitions-festivals and about 250 tastings-seminars in the USA, Europe and Asia, in a total of about 20 countries.
