The presentation of Georgian wine took place in Canada at one of the most prestigious festivals.
With the organization of the National Wine Agency of Georgia and the support of the Embassy of Georgia to Canada, Georgian wine was showcased at one of the most prestigious wine and spirits festivals, La Grande Dégustation de Montréal, held in the city of Montreal.
The festival La Grande Dégustation de Montréal has been held for fifteen years and is considered one of the largest events in the Quebec region, attended annually by up to 10,000 visitors.
Guests of the festival had the opportunity to taste nine varieties of Georgian wine, which are already available in the Quebec and Ontario regions.
There was significant interest in Georgian wine among the event’s visitors, which is important for promoting Georgia and Georgian wine. The festival was attended by wine industry professionals, journalists, wine writers, and importers from various countries around the world.
The festival featured wines from Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Greece, Romania, and other countries.
The event was attended by the Chargé d’Affaires of Georgia in Canada, Salome Qurasbediani, along with representatives of the Embassy.
In recent years, the export of Georgian wine to Canada has been steadily increasing. According to 2024 data, up to 200,000 liters of wine were exported to Canada, which is a 16% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. The revenue from wine exports amounted to 1.1 million USD, reflecting a 35% growth compared to the previous year. The upward trend continues in 2025 as well; according to data for the first 10 months, 193,000 liters of wine have been exported, representing a 19% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. Revenue from Georgian wine exports to Canada during the 10-month period reached 1.2 million GEL, which is 32% higher than the corresponding figure from the previous year.
