Harvest Has Begun in Racha
In Racha, Ambrolauri Municipality, 120 tons of grapes have been processed so far; of this amount, about 110 tons are Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli varieties, while the rest are other grape varieties.
This year, the projected harvest in the Racha-Lechkhumi region ranges between 1,500 and 2,000 tons.
To stimulate private sector involvement in the harvest process and to ensure the organized collection of the crop, the government has implemented a subsidy program in the Racha region. All companies that purchase and process at least 3 tons of Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli grapes harvested within the Khvanchkara microzone and pay vine growers no less than 8 GEL per kilogram will receive a state subsidy. The amount of the subsidy for wine companies in the Racha-Lechkhumi region is set at 4 GEL per kilogram for both Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli grape varieties (these varieties are used to produce the appellation wine Khvanchkara).
To ensure varietal accuracy and maintain the quality of the appellation wine Khvanchkara, ampelographers are monitoring the grapes at all collection points. In addition, special checkpoints have been set up at the entrances to the region to prevent grapes from being brought in from other municipalities and mixed with Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli varieties.
For the organized conduct of Rtveli 2025, a harvest coordination headquarters has been established in the city of Ambrolauri. Additional information is available through the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture hotline at 1501.
The harvest is also actively continuing in the Kakheti region, where, as of October 6, approximately 214,000 tons of grapes have been processed.
