With the support of the National Wine Agency of Georgia and the Japanese marketing company "RedBridge," a presentation of Georgian wine was held in the city of Nagoya, Japan.
A presentation on the history and culture of Georgian winemaking, grape varieties, and the modern wine industry was hosted by the director of "RedBridge," Japan's only Master of Wine, Kenichi Ohashi. He also presented eight different styles of Georgian wine from the regions of Kakheti, Imereti, and Racha.
The event was attended by importers, buyers, representatives of retail chains and media — in total, around 100 guests.
Nagoya, the largest and most densely populated city in Japan’s Chubu Prefecture, is considered the region’s capital and serves as an important transportation and industrial hub, with a population of 10 million. Nagoya is the third-largest city in Japan after Tokyo and Osaka.
The National Wine Agency has been cooperating with the marketing company "RedBridge" since 2017. Its activities cover various marketing events for Georgian wine in the strategic market of Japan. The aim of these events is to raise awareness of Georgian wine in the Japanese market and, accordingly, to increase demand.
The first large-scale presentation of Georgian wine in Japan was held in 2014. In the following years, with the continued support of the National Wine Agency, alongside tastings, Georgian wine companies participated in exhibitions such as “Foodex Japan,” “RAW Wine Tokyo,” and “Wine and Gourmet Japan,” as well as in local wine competitions. In 2019, a large-scale exhibition titled “Georgia – The Homeland of Wine” was held in Japan’s capital, Tokyo, which hosted thousands of visitors over a two-month period.
