As of September 11, up to 24,000 tons of grapes have been processed in the Kakheti region
The harvest is underway in the municipalities of Dedoplistskaro, Sighnaghi, Gurjaani, and Kvareli. Around 1,300 grape growers have delivered their grapes to wine enterprises.
The harvest will gradually begin in the remaining municipalities of Kakheti, depending on the grapes reaching the appropriate ripeness.
Of the grapes processed by wine enterprises, up to 12,000 tons are Saperavi, up to 7,000 tons are Rkatsiteli, and the rest are various other grape varieties.
Up to 350 wine companies/wineries are registered with the Harvest Coordination Headquarters, which will participate in the grape receiving and processing process. Out of these, 110 companies or wineries have already been involved in the harvest process.

It is noteworthy that, by decision of the Government of Georgia, this year, surplus grapes will be purchased by the state-owned enterprise LLC “Harvest Management Company” at differentiated prices based on quality:
• Saperavi grapes harvested in the Kakheti region – at 1.50 GEL per kg
• Other permitted wine grape varieties defined by the Georgian Law “On Vine and Wine” – at 1.20 GEL per kg
• Non-standard/damaged or diseased grapes – at 1.00 GEL per kg
No subsidies will be issued to private wine companies in the Kakheti region.
