The harvest is entering its active phase. In early October, grape picking will also begin in the Racha-Lechkhumi region. To ensure the organized conduct of the 2025 harvest, the government has determined appropriate support measures for this region.
The development of viticulture and winemaking and the promotion of the production of the protected designation of origin wine “Khvanchkara” in the Racha-Lechkhumi region is a priority.
Within the framework of the 2025 harvest, all wine companies that purchase and process no less than 3 tons of Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli grape varieties harvested in the Khvanchkara microzone and pay the grower no less than 8 GEL per kilogram will receive a subsidy. In the Racha-Lechkhumi region, the state will provide a subsidy of 4 GEL per 1 kg of Aleksandrouli and 1 kg of Mujuretuli to wine companies.
Starting from 2026, the state will implement support for the viticulture and winemaking sector in the Racha-Lechkhumi region during the harvest with a different approach. The main focus will be on grape quality.
By improving grape quality, the quality of Georgian wine will be significantly higher, making it even more competitive on the global market.
