With the financial support of the National Wine Agency and the organization of the international marketing company “Meiburg Wine Media,” a wine tour was carried out in Georgia.
The 10-member group included wine professionals and representatives of the commercial sector from Singapore, Australia, and Hong Kong. Within the framework of the tour, the guests became acquainted with Georgian traditions of winemaking as well as modern technologies in Kakheti and Kartli, and tasted various types of Georgian wine produced both in Qvevri and by the classical method.
“This is my first visit to Georgia. Here I saw how closely culture, wine, food, and people are connected with each other. And I think as a sommelier, when you're standing and talking to people at the table, it's so important to be able to tell that story. It's incredibly resonant to me. The wines have been delicious and I've got so many questions, but I have already received so many answers about the production, the qvevries, the different grape varieties, the different sub-regions. It's truly an honour to be here. Mentioned the Australian member of the group, sommelier, and Director of Beverages at the restaurant group “Trader House,” Leanne Altmann.
A Georgian wine tasting was also held in Tbilisi for the tour participants, where wines of various denominations from 16 wine-producing companies were presented.
One of the main directions of the National Wine Agency’s activities is the promotion of Georgian wine and raising awareness on international markets. Within the framework of supporting the promotion of Georgian wine, the Agency, in order to diversify markets, carries out targeted advertising and marketing campaigns in the markets of America, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
