Since 2014, Fabio Quaglino has been involved in this research together with his Georgian colleagues. As part of the study, the scientist collected wild grapevine samples both from the Jighaura collection of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, and from natural habitats during a specially organized expedition.
The materials, which will be analyzed at the University of Milan, are expected to provide answers to many questions related to complex grapevine diseases. This research is of vital importance for the development of viticulture and winemaking, as the complex of grapevine diseases leads to significant yield losses in nearly all grape varieties used for winemaking.
