As part of the educational project “Eco2Wine,” implemented under the European Union’s “Horizon Europe” program, the National Wine Agency hosted Capucine Dentraygues, a doctoral student from Geisenheim University.
“Eco2Wine,” launched in 2023 with the involvement of the National Wine Agency, aims to enhance global innovation and communication in the field of winemaking.
During her visit to Georgia, Capucine Dentraygues conducted field research on how Georgian wine consumers perceive natural, traditional, and microbially enhanced winemaking practices, as well as how they evaluate authenticity, sustainability, and healthiness when selecting wine. The analysis of the field research results is underway and will be published in the coming months.
The “Eco2Wine” project promotes cooperation aimed at developing future strategies based on scientific evidence.
The University of Milan coordinates the project and involves partner institutions from Georgia, Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Slovenia, and South Africa, including the Georgian Technical University, University of Milan, University of Burgundy, Geisenheim University, University of Perugia, University of Ljubljana, University of Cádiz, Stellenbosch University, and the Spanish National Research Council. Each participating country is represented by members of the wine industry. The total budget of the project is up to 2.4 million euros, and it will be implemented over four years.
