An Article About Georgian Wine to Be Published in the American Magazine “The Wine Palate”
Within the framework of cooperation between the National Wine Agency of Georgia and the American company „Big Sky Ranch Inc“., renowned American Master of Wine Lisa Perrotti-Brown visited Georgia. She will prepare an article on Georgian wine and winemaking for publication in the American magazine „The Wine Palate.“
Lisa Perrotti-Brown visited various Georgian wineries and producers in Kakheti, where she sampled a wide range of Georgian wines and gained insight into traditional Georgian winemaking techniques.
During her two-day stay in Tbilisi, she participated in a special tasting event, where she sampled nearly 100 wines from different producers. Her reviews and evaluations of the selected wines will be published this autumn in „The Wine Palate.“ The collaboration with this prominent American wine expert aims to promote and increase awareness of Georgian wine in the United States.
During the visit, the American Master of Wine also met with Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency, with whom she recorded a special interview about the culture of Georgian winemaking and the current state of the sector.
“This is my third visit to Georgia; the first time I came here was 12 years ago. Since then, I believe Georgian wines have made significant progress. They have significantly developed styles that are more internationally appealing. The sanitary conditions at wineries—including how vessels are cleaned—as well as the winemaking processes themselves, have significantly improved. Today, Georgia produces many beautiful, bright, clean, expressive wines made from local grape varieties, which I find truly impressive,” noted Lisa Perrotti-Brown.
The online publication “The Wine Palate” features a database of wines rated by experts from around the world, regularly updated with new reviews. The site is designed to help consumers easily discover the styles of wine they prefer and to enhance their wine-tasting experience. Lisa Perrotti-Brown mainly reviews American and Bordeaux wines, as well as Champagne, and this autumn, Georgian wines will be added to her portfolio. She has been active in the wine industry for more than 25 years.
The United States is one of the strategic export markets for Georgian wine. Since 2013, targeted marketing efforts supported by the National Wine Agency have significantly contributed to raising awareness and increasing exports of Georgian wine in the U.S.
