Six-Month Statistics on the Quality Control of Alcoholic Beverages
Quality
The relevant departments of the National Wine Agency of Georgia regularly carry out quality monitoring of alcoholic beverages to ensure that tens of millions of liters of Georgian wine and other alcoholic beverages comply with international standards, remain competitive, and are increasingly in demand.
According to data from January to June 2025, within the framework of state control — which verifies the compliance of technological processes in wineries with the requirements of Georgian legislation — violations were identified in 11 samples from 8 companies out of 561 samples taken from 135 companies.
Inspection control was conducted in 51 companies to determine the compliance of alcoholic beverage samples submitted for certification with their respective lots. Out of 757 samples taken, violations were found in 5 samples from 3 companies.
In the customs clearance economic zone, inspections were carried out in 52 companies by international contractors of the National Wine Agency — LLC “Bureau Veritas” and LLC “SGS.” Out of 208 samples taken, a violation was detected in 1 sample from 1 company.
To conduct organoleptic testing of alcoholic beverages intended for export, 132 tasting sessions were held. Out of 6,208 samples submitted for tasting, 202 were evaluated negatively, while the remaining 6,006 samples received a positive assessment. Organoleptic testing evaluates the color and clarity, typicity, presence of diseases, aroma, taste, and overall harmony of the sample.
Compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of violations has decreased.
