One of the most popular series of the renowned American media company Netflix, Somebody Feed Phil, will dedicate Season 8, Episode 4 to Georgia and Georgian wine.
The 8th season of the series will be released on the Netflix platform on June 18.
With the co-financing of the National Wine Agency of the LEPL under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, the Netflix creative team visited Georgia in the fall of 2024 to film the 4th episode. In line with the concept of Somebody Feed Phil, the episode will not only highlight Georgian wine but also focus on Georgian gastronomy. Filming took place in Tbilisi and Kakheti.
The National Wine Agency of Georgia is actively conducting a promotional campaign in the United States to increase awareness of Georgian wine. As part of the media campaign, one of the most popular wine shows in the U.S., V is for Vino, is also preparing an extensive feature on Georgian wine.
It is noteworthy that the United States is one of the key strategic export markets for Georgian wine, where the National Wine Agency has been carrying out targeted marketing activities since 2013. In recent years, through the initiative of the National Wine Agency, advertising campaigns have been significantly strengthened alongside various marketing efforts. These campaigns have involved influential media outlets such as CBS, CNN, The New York Times, and Wine Enthusiast, which have contributed to the growth of Georgian wine sales in the U.S. market. In 2024, Georgian wine exports reached a historic high of 1.2 million liters — a 32% increase compared to 2023.
The National Wine Agency of Georgia is implementing the marketing campaign for Georgian wine in the United States in collaboration with one of the leading American marketing companies, “Colangelo & Partners.” As part of the campaign, tasting seminars are being held in various U.S. cities for wine professionals and representatives of the wine trade industry. Additionally, Georgian wine is showcased at international exhibitions, and wine tours to Georgia are organized for media representatives, sommeliers, and sales professionals. These initiatives contribute to raising awareness and promoting Georgian wine in the American market.
