A meeting was held at the National Wine Agency with wine producers from the Racha-Lechkhumi region.
At a working meeting held with representatives of wine-producing companies from the Racha and Lechkhumi regions, the Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla, discussed the prospects for the development of viticulture and winemaking in Racha-Lechkhumi, as well as preparatory and organizational matters related to the harvest. Particular emphasis was placed on the quality of grapes and wine.
The meeting was attended by Gocha Enukidze, Member of the Parliament of Georgia representing the Racha-Lechkhumi and Svaneti constituency, and Parmen Margvelidze, State Representative in the Racha-Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti region.
“Racha-Lechkhumi is distinguished by its rich diversity of grape varieties, which is why it is essential to fully realize this potential. For the continued success of Georgian wine and its strong positioning in international markets, it is crucial to focus on quality. This is a key prerequisite for establishing Georgian wine in the high-reputation segment and increasing global demand,” stated Levan Mekhuzla.
It was noted during the meeting that, as in previous years, during the 2025 harvest season, ampelographers will be deployed at all grape receiving points to ensure the varietal accuracy and quality of local grape varieties. They will monitor the grapes being delivered. Additionally, special measures will be implemented to prevent the introduction of grapes from other municipalities and their mixing with local varieties.
