As part of the state program for the promotion of Georgian wine products on the local market, the “Bolnisi Appellation Wine Festival” was held.
The state program for the promotion of Georgian wine products on the local market has been implemented for the second consecutive year by the National Wine Agency, in coordination with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. Within the framework of the program, wine exhibitions, competitions, and festivals are held across the country, contributing significantly to the development of wine tourism potential and the enhancement of wine consumer culture.
The “Bolnisi Appellation Wine Festival” was held for the third time, featuring around 60 wineries from various regions of Georgia — including large producers, as well as small, medium-sized, and family-owned cellars.
The festival was attended by the Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla, and Deputy Chairman Zurab Vacharadze.
“The diversification and promotion of Georgian wine markets is our top priority. In this regard, the Bolnisi Festival is particularly important, as it differs from other festivals by exclusively showcasing appellation wines. Nevertheless, it also contributes to the overall promotion of Georgian wine. Currently, there are 32 registered appellation wines in Georgia, reflecting the diversity and uniqueness of Georgian grape varieties and winemaking traditions. We are pleased that the Bolnisi Festival has taken on a traditional character, with the number of participants and visitors growing each year,” stated Levan Mekhuzla.
As part of the festival, a competition for appellation wines was held in accordance with the standards of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV). An expert jury with international experience selected the winners of Grand Gold, Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals.
The festival was attended by wine importers, experts, bloggers, and representatives of the tourism sector from various European countries.
The “Bolnisi Appellation Wine Festival” is presented by the company RMJ. Alongside the National Wine Agency, the festival is supported by the winemakers’ association “Wine Bolnisi,” the Bolnisi Municipality, Sakpatenti, and the Bolnisi Agrocenter.
