As part of the festive events dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia, the National Wine Agency is represented in the city of Kutaisi with the concept: "Georgia – The Homeland of Wine."
The event features 11 local wine producers from the Imereti region. In the historic district of Balakhvani, a specially arranged festive space showcases visual and informational materials related to the history and traditions of Georgian wine and viticulture, including the diversity of grape and wine varieties native to the Imereti region. In the “Sommelier’s Corner,” sommelier Anton Khetsuriani presents the finest Imeretian wines to guests. The event also includes a Georgian wine exhibition and sale, as well as an educational and entertaining area designed for children. As part of the celebration, military equipment is on display, and concerts by local folklore ensembles are being held.
The event is attended by the Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla, along with representatives of the local government.
“Independence is the most significant achievement and a vital precondition for our country’s development. The agricultural sector plays a crucial role in strengthening Georgia’s economy, including the viticulture industry, which boasts an 8,000-year-old history. Georgia’s history is filled with examples of dignity, resilience, and determination. Our progressiveness, tolerance, generosity, and hospitality have always been admired by the world. It is precisely these qualities that have shaped our unique Georgian culture and traditions,” said Levan Mekhuzla.
At 17:10, the historic moment of Georgia’s declaration of independence will be ceremoniously marked by a performance of the national anthem by the Ioseb Kechakmadze Chamber Choir of Kutaisi.
The event will conclude with a gala concert in the evening.
Organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, the Independence Day celebrations are being held in the cities of Kutaisi, Telavi, and Akhaltsikhe.
