Columbia University in the USA hosted a Georgian wine tasting event.
With the support of the National Wine Agency and organized by its contracted American marketing company, Colangelo & Partners, a Georgian wine tasting and presentation was held at the Columbia University Wine Club in the USA.
The event featured six wines from different Georgian winemaking regions, representing various wineries, and was attended by approximately 70 students. Attendees had the opportunity to taste both qvevri and classically produced wines. The red wines, in particular, garnered significant interest and appreciation.
The Columbia University Wine Club has approximately 300 members. Presenting Georgian wine to wine professionals and interested attendees creates additional opportunities to increase awareness and strengthen the market position of Georgian wine in the United States.
It is noteworthy that the U.S. is one of the strategic export markets for Georgian wine. Since 2013, targeted marketing activities supported by the National Wine Agency have significantly contributed to the growth of awareness and exports of Georgian wine in the U.S.. In 2024, exports reached a historic high of 1.2 million liters, marking a 32% increase compared to 2023.
