The Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla, participated in the World Wine Trade Group (WWTG) working meeting in London.
The World Wine Trade Group (WWTG) held its annual meeting in London on March 20-21, where the discussion focused on wine trade regulations and electronic certification. Participants discussed the WWTG's role in promoting the trade of non-alcoholic and low-alcohol beverages, including the EU market’s wine labeling requirements.
The WWTG is an association of wine-producing countries, with members including the United States, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, New Zealand, South Africa, Uruguay, and Georgia. The main goal of the organization is to simplify wine trade, promote international wine commerce, and take collaborative actions to eliminate trade barriers.
"The primary goal of Georgia's participation in the World Wine Trade Group is to enhance the export potential of Georgian wine and diversify export markets. During the two-day session, we discussed various trade barriers and how we can help wine producers overcome them. The WWTG meeting in London was productive, and as a result, steps will be taken to ensure that even more unique and high-quality Georgian wines reach international markets," stated Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency.
Georgia chaired the WWTG from May 1, 2023, for a one-year term on a rotational basis. Georgia's efforts were positively assessed by the member countries. Australia currently holds the chairmanship of the WWTG.
