The Georgian wine-tasting seminar took place in Tokyo as part of the international food and beverage exhibition Foodex Japan 2025. The event was led by Irakli Cholobargia, a representative of the National Wine Agency.
With the support of the National Wine Agency, the tasting featured wines from various Georgian wine producers, including both “qvevri” wines and wines made using traditional methods. The seminar's presentation covered the history of the development of Georgian winemaking culture and the current state of the wine industry. The event was attended by wine importers, retail and wholesale sales agents, and wine professionals.
Teimuraz Lezhava, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia to Japan, attended the presentation of Georgian wine.
The 50th anniversary of "Foodex Japan," one of the largest exhibitions in Asia, is taking place from March 11-14 in Tokyo, with thousands of companies participating. Within the scope of this exhibition, presenting Georgian wine offers a prime opportunity for product promotion, market-entry, and establishment, as well as for identifying Japanese distributor companies.
Japan is a key strategic market for Georgian wine in Asia, where, with the support of the National Wine Agency, the first large-scale presentation of Georgian wine was held in 2014.
