Twenty-five types of Georgian wines from eight producers were showcased at the Expovina international wine exhibition in Zurich, Switzerland.
From October 31 to November 14, the ongoing Expovina exhibition was held across nine ships and welcomed thousands of guests. Georgian wine was featured among the offerings from nearly all winemaking countries, represented at the exhibition by the "Georgian Wine House" (GeoHauss).
The opening of the Expovina exhibition was graced by the presence of David Tkemaladze, Deputy Chairman of the National Wine Agency.
„The growing interest in Georgian wine within the Swiss market can be attributed to the marketing initiatives we have executed over the past few years. However, these efforts alone are insufficient. We must actively continue to enhance awareness of Georgian wine. As you are aware, Expovina is Switzerland's largest international exhibition, attracting thousands of guests, including wine experts, sommeliers, representatives from the Horeca sector, and media professionals over the course of two weeks. Next year marks the 70th anniversary of Expovina, and preparations are underway to ensure a successful event. We aim to showcase Georgian wine in a manner that reflects its quality and heritage.“, - stated David Tkemaladze.
During the exhibition, the Deputy Chairman of the National Wine Agency met with Pascal Schlittler, the Executive Director of the Expovina exhibition. The parties discussed the potential for a large-scale presentation of Georgian wine at the 70th Expovina exhibition in 2025.
„Georgian wine producers, including our organization, frequently participate in various wine exhibitions, which is of significant importance. Additionally, I would like to acknowledge the invaluable support we receive from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, as well as the National Wine Agency.“, - stated Kakha Chotiashvili, who showcased his wines from the Tchotiashvili winery at the Expovina exhibition.
Kakha Chotiashvili noted that the European market has rigorous quality demands, which subsequently drives the enhancement of Georgian wine quality.
„As a result of our analysis of the local market, we have selected 25 different types of wine to present at the exhibition. Expovina is the most prestigious wine exhibition in Switzerland, and we are participating for the fourth time with the support of the National Wine Agency. Such marketing events significantly enhance awareness and knowledge of Georgian wine in Switzerland, ultimately contributing to increased sales of Georgian wine.“, - Director of "Georgian Wine House" (GeoHauss), Zviad Arabidze, stated.
It is important to note that, with the support of the National Wine Agency and the Embassy of Georgia to the Swiss Confederation, the "Georgian Wine House" has been actively engaged in raising awareness of Georgian wine in the Swiss market and implementing promotional measures since 2011.
