14.10.2024

With the support of the National Wine Agency and the organization of its contractor, Swirl Wine Group, a group of 13 wine professionals visited Georgia to enhance awareness and promote the export of Georgian wine in the UK market.
Members of a delegation comprising British importers and journalists visited Georgian wine-producing companies in the Kartli and Kakheti regions, where they sampled various styles of Georgian wine.    During the special "Walk-around Tasting" event held in Tbilisi, British guests had the opportunity to explore the wines of ten different companies.
„Our group possesses extensive experience and appreciates the variety and quality of Georgian wine. The export of Georgian wine to the Great Britain market has substantially increased, and sales growth continues to thrive. However, Georgian wine remains discovery to most British consumers. It is essential that Georgia, with its ancient wine culture, is rapidly gaining recognition, and Georgian wine tourism is experiencing a significant rise in popularity.“, -  The head of the company "Swirl Wine Group", Master of Wine Sarah Abbott noted.
United Kingdom is one of the largest importers and consumers of wine in Europe and has been identified since 2014 as a potentially growing strategic market for Georgian wine exports. To establish its presence in the UK market, the National Wine Agency has been collaborating with Master of Wine Sarah Abbott's company ,,Swirl Wine Group LTD’’ since 2015.  Between January and September of this year, 245,000 litres of wine were exported to the UK, reflecting a 12% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
