As of October 7, 300,000 tons of grapes have been processed in Georgia, marking a record achievement in the history of independent Georgia.
The vintage season is concluding in Kakheti, and the harvest has been successfully stored in Racha.
At this stage, the active harvest is taking place in the famous Lechkhumi region of Georgian viticulture, where two unique local wines "Tvishi" and "Okuresh Usakhelouri" are registered.
From grapes processed nationwide, 296,000 tons are harvested from Kakheti, 1,700 tons from Racha, 304 tons from Lechkhumi, with the remainder sourced from various regions of Georgia. The revenue generated from grape sales amounts to 450 million GEL. Currently, 20,000 winegrowers have stored their harvest.
To date, a total of 486 wine companies and wineries have participated in the vintage process.
To promote the sale of grapes by winegrowers, maintain grape quality, and support the sustainable development of the wine industry, the Government of Georgia is providing subsidies for this year's vintage:
In the Kakheti region, all companies that compensate winegrowers with a minimum of 1.00 GEL per kilogram of Rkatsiteli grapes will qualify for a state subsidy. Additionally, beginning September 13, "Harvest Management Company" Ltd will purchase Saperavi variety grapes from winegrowers at a rate of 1.50 GEL per kilogram.
In the Racha region, companies that compensate winegrowers with a minimum of 8 GEL for each kilogram of Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli grapes cultivated in the Khvanchkara microzone will be eligible for a subsidy. For every kilogram of Aleksandrouli and 1 kilogram of Mujuretuli purchased, the state will provide a subsidy of 4 GEL to these companies.
