As of September 23, a total of 205 thousand tons of grapes have been processed in Kakheti, which includes 81.2 thousand tons of Rkatsiteli and 97.2 thousand tons of Saperavi.
At this stage, over 15,000 winegrowers have stored their harvest, with income from grape sales totaling 287 million GEL.
The daily processing rate of grapes exceeds 10,000 tons, indicating that the vintage is currently in an active phase.
Every day, approximately 80 companies and cellars process the harvest. Among them, "Harvest Management Company" Ltd collects grapes from growers at around 15 locations across various municipalities in Kakheti. To date, a total of 303 wine companies and wineries have participated in the vintage process.
To promote the sale of grape harvests by winegrowers and to support the stable development of the wine industry, the Government of Georgia is subsidizing this year's vintage. Companies that pay a minimum of 1.00 GEL to the winegrower for Rkatsiteli grapes will be eligible for the state subsidy.
The volume of processed Saperavi has doubled compared to the same period last year. In the event of an excess harvest, and to ensure the timely collection and storage of the crop while maintaining its quality, the Government of Georgia has issued a decision effective September 13. ,,Harvest Management Company’’ Ltd purchases Saperavi grapes from winegrowers at a rate of 1.50 GEL per kilogram. Additionally, the Government of Georgia will compensate winegrowers the difference between 1.5 GEL and the fee received for Saperavi grapes sold at a price lower than 1.50 GEL prior to September 13.
In 2024, the projected grape harvest is anticipated to reach a record 300,000 tons.
