As of September 18, a total of 146,000 tons of grapes have been processed in Kakheti, comprising 60,000 tons of Rkatsiteli and 68,500 tons of Saperavi.
At this stage, over 12,000 winegrower farmers have completed their harvest storage. The revenue generated from the sale of grapes amounts to 197 million GEL.
Every day, the harvest is processed by approximately 80 companies and wineries. Currently, around 500 wine enterprises are registered with the vintage coordination headquarters, of which 254 have already participated in the vintage process.
The volume of processed Saperavi has doubled compared to the same period last year. In the event of an excess harvest, and to ensure the timely collection and storage of the crop while maintaining its quality, the Government of Georgia has issued a decision effective September 13. ,,Harvest Management Company’’ Ltd purchases Saperavi grapes from winegrowers at a rate of 1.50 GEL per kilogram. Additionally, the Government of Georgia will compensate winegrowers the difference between 1.5 GEL and the fee received for Saperavi grapes sold at a price lower than 1.50 GEL prior to September 13.
In addition, to promote the sale of grape harvests by winegrowers and support the stable development of the wine industry, all companies that pay a minimum of 1.00 GEL to the winegrower for each kilogram of Rkatsiteli will be eligible to receive a state subsidy.
"Harvest Management Company’’ Ltd collects grapes from winegrowers at approximately 20 locations across various municipalities in the Kakheti region.
The daily processing rate of grapes exceeds 10,000 tons, indicating that the vintage is currently in an active phase.
In 2024, the projected grape harvest is anticipated to reach a record 300,000 tons.
In Telavi, the Vintage Coordination Headquarters and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture hotline (1501) operate 24 hours a day.
