The United States of America is a crucial market for Georgian wine. Since 2013, the initiatives supported by the National Wine Agency have significantly enhanced the visibility and recognition of Georgian wine in the USA.
,,To assess the position of Georgian wine in the American market, a consumer market survey was commissioned this year by the National Wine Agency. The findings highlight the need to enhance the visibility of Georgian wine not only within the professional community but also among the general American consumers to sustain export growth. Recognizing the consumer as the ultimate factor in wine sales, a consumer-centric advertising campaign in the US has been strategically devised’’.- Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla stated.
In 2023, thanks to the proactive efforts and backing of the National Wine Agency, a consumer-focused advertising campaign was successfully executed in the United States. Through partnerships with esteemed media outlets such as CBS and CNN, the campaign yielded exceptional results, leading to an unprecedented surge in Georgian wine sales during the fourth quarter of 2023 and the subsequent period of 2024.
It is important to acknowledge that the United States of America represents one of the most costly markets for Georgian wine, with an average price of $6 per liter.
At this stage, the ongoing campaign aimed at promoting and enhancing awareness of Georgian wine within the United States encompasses the following initiatives:
On September 16-18, Emily Saladino, editor of the respected American wine publication "Wine Enthusiast" and representative of the tasting commission, will be visiting Georgia. As part of the scheduled visit, he will oversee a blind tasting of Georgian wine and assess the wines using Wine Enthusiast's 100-point evaluation system and he will have the opportunity to visit the Kakheti region. Additionally, he will have the opportunity to explore the Kakheti region.
In September, an exclusive tour will be organized in Georgia for a group of esteemed American wine professionals and journalists.
From September 23rd, for a duration of 2 weeks, an outdoor campaign in the city of New York, specifically in Manhattan, will include the placement of advertising banners promoting Georgian wine. These banners will be positioned on 25 lightboxes throughout the designated area.
On September 26th, a large-scale presentation of Georgian wine - "Grand Tasting," will take place in the city of New York. This event is specifically designed for wine professionals, media personnel, and representatives from the commercial sector.
During the months of October and November, the publication "New York Times" will host the advertising campaign for Georgian wine. On the official website of the New York Times, a prominent Blockbanner will display a slideshow of advertising banners promoting Georgian wine to every user who visits the site. It should be noted that this publication garners an average weekly viewership of over 100 million users.
