As of September 15, a total of 111,000 tons of grapes have been processed in Kakheti, comprising 47,000 tons of Rkatsiteli grapes and 53,000 tons of Saperavi grapes.
The volume of processed Saperavi has doubled in comparison to the same period last year.
In order to timely store the Saperavi grape harvest under conditions of excess harvest while maintaining quality, the Government of Georgia has mandated that, starting September 13, "Harvest Management Company" Ltd will purchase Saperavi grapes from farmers at a price of 1.50 GEL per kilogram. Additionally, for growers who delivered Saperavi grapes for less than 1.50 GEL prior to September 13, the Government of Georgia will provide compensation for the difference between the 1.50 GEL price and the amount received.
To promote the sale of grape harvests by winegrowers and to support the stable development of the winemaking industry, all companies that pay a minimum of 1.00 GEL to the winegrower for each kilogram of Rkatsiteli will be eligible to receive a state subsidy.
Harvest Management Company" Ltd delivers grape from winegrowers in approximately 20 municipalities throughout the Kakheti region.
By this stage, 9,300 winegrower farmers have already stored the harvest, 225 wine companies and wineries have already been involved in the grape processing process.
The rate of daily processing of grapes is within 12-13 thousand tons, which means that the vintage is in an active phase.
In 2024, the forecast grape harvest is a record 300 thousand tons.
