Approximately 6,500 winegrower farmers have stored their grape harvest in Kakheti.
As of September 12th, a total of 78,000 tons of grapes have been processed in the Kakheti region, with 35,000 tons of Rkatsiteli, 34,000 tons of Saperavi, and the remaining being grapes of different varieties.
The vintage takes place in all municipalities of Kakheti with various activities.
The daily grape processing rate has exceeded 10,000 tons, indicating that the vintage is currently in full swing.
About 80 companies and wineries are involved in the process of crop processing every day.
Currently, approximately 6,500 winegrower farmers have stored their grape harvest.
In 2024, the projected grape harvest is expected to reach a record-breaking 300,000 tons. Currently, there are 420 wine enterprises registered at the vintage coordination headquarters. Some of these enterprises are already engaged in receiving and processing grapes, while others will be joining in the coming days.
To facilitate the marketing of grape harvest by winegrowers and to foster the sustainable growth of the wine industry, the Government of Georgia is extending vintage subsidies for the current year. The subsidy will facilitate the sale of harvest for over 20,000 winegrowers, as well as provide assistance to 500 companies engaged in the vintage, ensuring a seamless procurement and processing of grapes. All companies that purchase and process a minimum of 100 tons of Rkatsiteli grapes grown in the Kakheti region during the 2024 vintage will be eligible for a state subsidy. These companies will also be required to pay a minimum price of 1.00 GEL per kilogram of grapes.
The vintage coordination headquarters in Telavi and the hotline of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia (1501) operate 24/7.
