As of September 10, 2024, a total of 56,000 tons of grapes have been processed in the Kakheti region. Out of this quantity, 27,000 tons consist of Rkatsiteli, 22,600 tons consist of Saperavi, and the remaining amount comprises grapes of various other varieties.
The Vintage is being held in multiple regions of Kakheti, excluding the Sagarejo Municipality.
The daily grape processing rate has reached 9 thousand tons, indicating that the vintage is currently in full swing. Approximately 70 companies and cellars are actively engaged in the crop processing operations on a daily basis.
At this stage, approximately 4,500 winegrowers-farmers have already completed the storage of the harvest.
In 2024, the projected grape harvest is expected to reach a record-breaking 300,000 tons.
It should be noted that the government of Georgia is offering vintage subsidies this year as well, with the aim of promoting the sale and realization of grape harvest by winegrower farmers and supporting the stable development of the wine industry. As a result, over 20,000 winegrowers will have the opportunity to sell their harvest, while 500 companies involved in the vintage will be able to seamlessly purchase and process grapes. All companies that purchase and process a minimum of 100 tons of Rkatsiteli grapes grown in the Kakheti region during the 2024 vintage will be eligible for a state subsidy. These companies will also be required to pay a minimum price of 1.00 GEL per kilogram of grapes.
The vintage coordination headquarters and the hotline of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia (1501) in Telavi operate 24/7.
